If you've driven down West Bay Drive recently, you may have noticed a new artistic addition. One local artist with a passion for painting is using buildings as her canvasses as she creates Murals For Largo. We'd like to hear from the community about your thoughts on the Downtown Murals and what murals you'd like to see in the future.

Hello James, if you look in Largo Central Park, you'll see several sculptures throughout, some are interactive where kids and adults can climb and join. They are beautiful and fun bronze sculptures depicting children doing different things in the park, like the Circle of Peace where children are holding hands in a circle playing a game and the kids crossing a stream over a log. Children love this one, it's by the playground.

Several years ago, the community members came forward with donations to support a public art program and the City initiated the project by purchasing various sculptures throughout the years.

Love the idea! Fun and artistic! Maybe some beach themed murals and murals of different attractions in the city, such as kids playing at the Largo Central Park playground, or people walking and biking across the trail/walkway, etc.

They look nice now, but I've seen murals around here before that faded in a year or two. I'm not in favor of murals if my tax money is used. Use the money to improve bus service so workers can get to and from work at hours that say restaurant workers need, some lighted bike areas for safer travels getting home from 2nd and 3rd shifts jobs, or for people that just exercise early.

I like the murals. They would be a welcome addition to some neighborhoods, as well as commercial areas, that have unsightly aspects to them. There is a concrete block wall along 126th Ave approximately between 139th St and 138th St that could use some beautifying.
